Forex is the process of converting one currency into another. This can be for a variety of reasons – travel, business or trading. The place where transactions are conducted between two currencies is called the Forex market. It is one of the most actively traded trading markets in the world, with an average daily trading volume of US$5 trillion. When you trade Forex, you make money by speculating on whether one currency will rise or fall in value relative to another.
A pip is a unit of measurement that represents the smallest change in value between two currencies. If EUR/USD moves from 1.1055 to 1.1056 on a decimal point, then that 0.0001 represents a move of 1 pip. For almost all currency pairs, pips are calculated starting from the fourth decimal place.
